Commander Keen projects on this page are being or have been made by people who are NOT working with ID, Apogee, IonStorm, Softdisk, or FormGen. Downloads are given whern possible, but if there is no download, don't email asking for one, because there isn't one! Not every unofficial keen game makes this page. Only games that are worth the download or games in developement will be listed here. If a game was listed as being under developement but isn't good enough to make the released list once it is finished it will be linked on the bottom of the page so anyone who was interested can still locate it, but it will not continue to be featured. Please do not bother use if your game isn't on the list if we decide it isn't good enough.

Note: Certain DLLs are required to run the KNP (Klik 'n Play), CNC (Click 'n Create), and TGF (Games Factory) games. You may download those DLLs on the Downloads page.

Comments Ilsoap and Slasher (aka Corey and Matrix) are two of the best game makers in the keen community. While they are limited by Click 'n Create they both produce work among the highest in quality in all of the community. Commander Keen - Flash version

This is a Flash port of the original Commander Keen games which you can run on-line in your browser. The only real difference is the user interface and map. This game focuses more on the levels and the gameplay.

Comments One of the best unofficial Commander Keen games ever made. While the demo lacks in content (having only one enemy and 2 levels) it looks and feels almost exactly the same as the original keens and has 2 all new weapons (a harpoon for underwater and a blowgun for above) and has almost 100% all new art (except for keen who is a recolored version of the original). A must download.

Comments This game is a followup to RKP but it is written completely from scratch. It has smoother scrolling than RKP (and thanks for that!), and several new play modes. It features multiplayer mode and a level editor.

Project Title: Real Keen Player 3

This is the third game in the RKP series. Dopefish is now using a new homemade engine which provides better scrolling capabilities than the previous RKPs. The engine is vector-based instead of tile-based, so levels can be much bigger than before. This turned out to be a superior fangame, and a recommended download.

Rule of a Yorp's Supper Keen get's "keen-napped" and it's up to Spot, Keen's yorp to save him, but first, he needs the help of Keen's other friends.

Comments By far the best CNC keen game available. If you've tried all other CNC games on the page and hated them all give this one a chance. The only negative thing about it is the bad controls that plague all CNC games. It isn't done yet, but what's already done is amazing.

Spork I: Robot's Revenge Commander Keen has been captured in his own space station—by his own robots! It's time to show these robots who's boss.

Spork II: Escape from Dula 9 After managing to escape from his space station before it self-destructed, Commander Keen turned toward the nearest thing that might accept an eight year-old kid. He is captured and brought aboard where he must escape from alien robots that have captured you and forced you to fight their most elite warriors!

Spork III: Code of the Sporkia Now that all distractions are out of the way, Keen is free to go to Kalorkian VII and stop the evil Sporkians from taking over the galaxy.

Comments I've only played Spork II and III, so I can really only tell you about them, but from what I've played both games are good. The game's assets aren't in the quality of the art (which is good but not great) nor in the engine (it uses CNC so it's jerky and has sluggish maneuvering) but in the interesting additions thrown in. In Spork II keen walks in space and in Spork III he dons a jet pack. If your only going to look at one of the, be sure to check out Spork III, it's far and away the best of the 3 and is most worth the download out of all of them. - eK

Review

The platform engine is better than most other Click games. It includes ledge climbing. None of the "standard Klik'n'Play" bugs are there, but there are some new ones instead. The enemies are new and exciting. Level design is good but not great; many levels are quite straightforward and under-decorated. The game runs slow on screen resolutions bigger than 800*600. All in all a good game.

Nostalgia

These games may not reach up to today's standards, but they were the first unofficial Keen games ever and are worth trying just for the nostalgic value.

This game started as "Keen and the Moon Stone", but unfortunately Stardust Entertainment wasn't allowed to use the Keen character. The game is now called Myth of the Moon Stone, still has some resemblances to Keen, and looks like a great platform game, so you should check it out.

Review

Graphics and music are taken from the original Keen games, and it has the sluggish, buggy movements and fast animations known from KNP games that haven't been sufficiently tweaked. The plot is inconsistent. If you've got half an hour to spare, try this game. If you want quality, you'd be better off playing something else.
