Can you believe it? After nearly 20 years there has been an update to cc314! Thanks to the efforts of Grandy02, Commander Keen for the Game Boy Color now has a complete Enemies and Items page as well as an updated Game Info page that includes an illustrated ending section.

These new updates were actually completed and accessible in September, but it took me until now to finally make this post. Thank you, Grandy02, and sorry I took so long!

This shall be my last update...at least for a few years. I don't know what will happen to cc314 while I'm gone. Most likely nothing. Perhaps eK and Cho'gall will move it, or give it up and pass it along to someone else. Whatever happens, I won't be here to see it.

My e-mail has been disabled, I will not be checking it. Don't bother sending me e-mail, you will get no response. I hope all of you out there continue to love and cherish the unquenchable childhood spirit that is represented by Commander Keen; the spirit that speaks to the Peter Pan in all of us.

Ha! For the first time in years, an update on Keen's birthday! On December 14, 1990, Commander Keen Episode 1: Invasion of the Vorticons was released to the public. Happy 14th birthday Keen! It's also good to note, the Goodbye Galaxy series was released on December 15, 1991, so happy birthday to that too.

Well, there's no real update so...go away.

I finally got around to properly updating the 3D Models from David Wilson, and found another (old) piece of 3D Art from xtraverse that had fallen through the cracks long ago. Check them both out at the drawn/3d fanart page. I've also changed the game manual pages in the game info section, and so now the manuals should load about twice as fast for our friends that still have slow-speed connections (and look nicer, to boot). In other news, spring cleaning is finally done, with all the banner code up to date...not that it seems like it of course.

Another tiny update. For some reason, when doing the last tiny update, I didn't add a link to a great keen site: Keen Galaxy. Definately check it out!

That big-ish update's still scheduled for sometime this month...

Tiny update. David Wilson was cranky that I haven't put up some 3D-models that he sent a few weeks ago, so here they are (Anim8or file format). Real update coming sometime this month.

A fairly small update, but proof that cc314 isn't dead yet. What I have for you is a new fanart by LinkDragon, and a revised links page. Check them out!

An interesting note, one week from today (Friday) will mark the fourth year since eK, Cho'gall, and I finished the re-design of cc314. We might not be too active on this site, but we're still very active on the Public Commander Keen Forum, so come visit us!

Also, for those of you that wanted to play the awesome Bazooka Wowbagger mod, but ran into memory problems, a new download has been added to the mods page which should solve your problems (it makes the Spearsicon a little smaller).

Don't expect this to become the norm...there will be at most one more update before another great slump. Anyways, it seems Cho'gall added Ilsoap's keen mod to the mods page. In lieu of this, I added my Dangerous Dave minimod to the mods page. Check them both out!

Break in school = new update. So I got two things for ya: new 3D fanart from David Wilson, and I've also uploaded a scanned version of the Keen 6 manual for those who are interested...one of these days this place is going to get a minor renovation. That's about it then...so long for another three months...maybe next time I'll actually get around to uploading some great mods and cleaning out the links section.

Hey! We updated! First off, happy new year everyone!

About two months ago, David Booth sent me a hilarious fanart. It took me this long to put it on the site, so I felt bad and made it the splash-screen image. You can also check it out at the Drawn Fanart page. Also, the levels page has been changed slightly.

I think that's it for major updates...explore and maybe you'll find more!

Also, we missed Keen's birthday (as usual)! Commander Keen 1 was released December 14, 1990. Happy 12th birthday Keen!

Another Commander Keen mod, by Xtraverse this time, is available at the Mods page. This is very exciting!

Because of my summer vacation, I haven't been able to regularly update the Fangames pages lately. From now on, however, things are going to get a lot more speedier. New projects were added today, and all valid submissions should now be listed after two weeks at the latest.

September 12, 2001

Well.
I'm sure you all know what happened yesterday. It's just plain sick. I offer my condolences to anyone who's friends or relatives were casulties in this attack.
Here's some quotable Bush. I can't say anymore myself.

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America...

Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured, and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.

The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.

America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me."

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night, and God bless America.

END 8:35 P.M. EDT

Good-bye for now.

Great news for those keen on the new CGB Keen game. It's gone Gold. For those of you who don't know the jargon, that means Nintendo has okayed it for mass production and you can therefore expect it on shelves in as little as a week, but probably between one and two weeks from now.

This also means that as soon as the game hits stores, cc314 will have an interview with one of the game's creators, Associate Producer at David A. Palmer Productions, James Palmer.

New interview! That's right kiddies, We have an interview with Geoff Sims. Geoff was the guy who started cc314 many moons ago. I also was able to talk with James A. Palmer, who works for David A. Palmer Productions and I gleamed a bit of information off of him about the Keen Gameboy game. Hoepfully I'll be able to interview him before the game ships. Here's what he told me: The game is 99% done. So expect it to ship much sooner than we thought, and if you would like to talk with the fine folks over at David A. Palmer Productions email them here. I'll try to get an interview with him as soon as the game goes Gold. (Which means the game is done, and is off to the publishers, in this case Nintendo)

The interviews are in the encyclopedia section, go have a looksee.

Also, I found an interview with the guys working on Anachronox (Tom Hall's new game) and in it Tom is asked what he thinks of the new keen game and he said, "kinda weird they are doing new levels. Ah well. It is their business property...." Not much there, but still worth noting.

Finally, I found a scan from Nintend Power magazine on "Keen Information" run by forge. Go visit his site now to look at the pic. It's large and blurry, but it looks pretty good. I'm sort of disappointed in the detail of the art but that could be due to the gameboy color itself or the quality of the scans. Oh, and I don't like keen's shirt color, but I'll survive.

Stomped.com did an interview with Todd Hollenshead about the Commander Keen Gameboy game currenty in production. You can read it here.

I've also done some research about David A. Palmer productions and I have a list of at least some of their previous games:

Men in Black: The Series 2
Gex: Enter the Gecko
Gex 3: Deep Pocket Gecko
Sydney 2000

Here's their website. It appears as though they both develope both Gameboy games and professional music software. If I find out more I'll be sure to keep you updated.

March 1, 2001

Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id software just posted a press release in his .plan file confirming that Commander Keen will be making his way to the gameboy color. Here's a snippet from his .plan file:

"Commander Keen marks a return to id Software's roots -- developing over-the-top, comic book-style adventure games for kids.  Based on id's original Commander Keen series on the PC, Commander Keen finds precocious 8-year-old superhero Billy Blaze on an all-new quest to save the world from his alien adversaries, the Droidiccus, Shikadia and Bloogs of Fribbulus Xax."

The game will be developed by David A. Palmer and will be published by Activision.

This is very important, and I urge everyone to read this if you haven't already at the message board.

We've already had our site plagerized. Someone took our site and made it their own just like a bunch of people did to Geoff. Let me issue a warning, right here, right now, to anyone who's thinking of doing this to us. We're looking into the illegality of stealing our site. If we catch ANYONE stealing our site or taking our art without permission we will issue a warning and if that warning isn't heeded we will do whatever we can to remove the site and punish you for what you've done. If that means we have to go through the judicial system of whatever country your in, so be it. I know this sounds harsh, but we can't sit idley by while people make our hard work their own. This is despicable, and we can't let it happen.

Well, as you can see cc314 has been redesigned! If you didn't know cc314 was first designed by Geoff Sims something like 4 years ago. About a year ago it underwent an overhaul and then exchanged hands to Thea Gregory who maintained it for about a year before handing it to us. Flaose, Cho'gall, and I have been part of the community that surrounded this site and have helped with different aspects of the site numerous times. It's great to be part of such an important site and to be able to make that site even better. As of writing this the site isn't done yet, in fact, this is the first page we've done other than the main one.
